Martin Luther King Jr Unit MLK Activities

I love to teach my students about Martin Luther King Jr because he was an integral part of the Civil Rights Movement and he fought for equal rights peacefully. This five day resources teaches students about who MLK Jr was and exposes them to the Civil Rights Movement. This unit was written with the primary grades in mind.

In this unit, students will:

• create a KWL chart about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
• Read books and watch video about MLK
• Read one of the differentiated mini-books about Martin Luther King
• Answer differentiated comprehension questions about MLK Jr.
• Be exposed to beautiful quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King and write about what it means to them. {Craft included}
• Choose their own words to live by
• Create a timeline of MLK Jr.’s life
• Write about their dream for the world
• Create a craft to go with the dream writing
